Giovanni Cristoffanini was born in Genoa on 24 April 1957.
He graduated with honours in Law at the University of Genoa, has been a member of the Genoa Bar Association since 1985 and has been admitted to practice before the Italian Supreme Court (Corte di Cassazione).
He began his career at Studio Legale Cristoffanini, founded in Genoa in 1947 by his father, Mario Cristoffanini (1913-1994). At the beginning of 2008 he converted the Firm into a professional association with the partners Lorenzo Bottero and Federico Odero, joined by Giovanni Bravo in 2011.
He has extensive experience in commercial and corporate law, with a specific focus on mergers, acquisitions, extraordinary financial transactions, family business and business succession (family agreements, trusts, donations and holdings), banks and financial markets as well as in the debt restructuring and insolvency matters.
He mainly assists corporations and undertakings operating in various industries, among which trading of commodities, shipbuilding and repair, shipping and transport, energy and private healthcare, providing assistance and advice in the areas of intellectual property law and competition law and in the drafting of the main relevant commercial contracts: joint venture agreements, tender temporary partnership, tenders and contracts, national and international sales and purchase agreements, agency and distribution, franchising and leasing.
He also has a consolidated experience in the assistance of individual clients in the areas of civil liability and inheritance law.
He acts as arbitrator in civil law disputes, both as Sole Arbitrator and Third Arbitrator appointed by Institutional Authorities.
Ha was lecturer at the Scuola di Formazione SOGEA and frequently lectures at the Scuola Forense “Mauro De Andrè”, sponsored by the Genoa Bar Association for the professional training of trainee lawyers. He also cooperated with the Confindustria of Genoa, holding training courses in the area of the civil liability.
